INTERNATIONAL racing star Andrew Kirkaldy, of St Andrews, will compete in the current Porsche Carrera Cup GB championship as he competes at Rockingham this weekend.
Kirkaldy is taking part in the third and fourth rounds of the championship and will be behind the wheel of the Porsche Motorsport entry as part of the strong links between the Carrera Cup and the McLaren/ Autosport/BRDC Young Driver Award.
Although he has never raced a Porsche before, he is looking forward to the event and hopes that his extensive GT experience will serve him well.
“At least I get the chance to drive the car before qualifying,” he said. “I’ve never driven a Supercup car before, but I’m told that the cars are good to drive.
“I’m sure it will take a little getting used to, but I’m pretty used to jumping into different cars at new circuits. I’m looking forward to it and it’s going to be a busy weekend, but we’ll give it a go.”
