DUNDEE ICE Arena hosted some of Scotland’s best gardeners this weekend at the city’s Spring Garden Show.
The two-day event is considered one of the largest of its kind in the country and this year’s brought together around 50 bright and exotic displays of plants as well as art and craft workshops and exhibits.
Organisers hailed it a great success and said it was one of the show’s busiest years ever.
Dundee City Council and Dundee In Bloom joined to encourage people in the area to expand their awareness of their environment as the city reached the final of this year’s prestigious Britain In Bloom competition.
The winner of the national contest will be announced in the summer.
Show manager Merrill Smith said, “We are very pleased with the show this year and I think it has been a lot busier than last year.
“We have lots of lovely exhibits with people coming from as far as Banff, Aberdeenshire, and Edinburgh.
“There have been a lot more people coming in this year and all the traders are very happy too.
“Saturday afternoon was especially busy.
“One thing I am particularly pleased with is the level of entrants for our children’s competitions and we are very grateful to our local schools and teachers for all the work they have put in.”
There were various competitions involving the displays on show, but Jim Davidson from Banff scooped many of the major prizes for his daffodils, and there was a notable success for the ladies’ section of Friends of Barnhill Rock Garden.
