MORE THAN two thirds of the tickets for Hey Jude, a charity concert to be held at Dundee Rep in honour of a young Dundee woman who died of melanoma last year, have already been sold.
The music of The Beatles, Oasis and The Proclaimers will be heard at the memorial concert in June which will raise funds for Cancer Research UK and The Shaw Melanoma Charitable Trust.
Local actors, singers and musicians have agreed to perform the work of those bands, plus songs from other musical icons, in memory of young Dundee woman Jude Malecki, who died from cancer last year aged 29.
Her fiance Keith Fleming has arranged the acoustic show featuring some of Dundee’s top musical acts and members of the Rep’s ensemble past and present.
“Basically, before Jude passed away she asked me to do something like this to raise money for research into the type of cancer she had, so that others may get a chance denied to her.
“That was Jude through and through—selfless and caring.
“It’s on Sunday, June 17, and it’s on the main stage. The Rep are giving me use of the theatre and all proceeds from the event are going to the two charities.”
Tickets are available now from Dundee Rep’s box office (01382 223530) and online at www.dundeerep.co.uk
