A 49-YEAR-OLD woman was killed in an accident on a Perthshire road yesterday.

The two-car crash happened on the A823 Crieff to Dunfermline road near Gleneagles, 400 metres north of its junction with the A9, at around 8.45am.

The cars involved were a blue Suzuki Jimny and a silver Nissan Almera.

Emergency services rushed to the scene but the woman, who was not named, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed until late afternoon while accident investigators carried out their work, and diversions were put in place.

Tayside Police will name the motorist after family members have been contacted.
