Saints’ boss clears McDiarmid decks

THERE WERE no surprises yesterday with the names of the trio of St Johnstone players manager Owen Coyle has decided to release—Derek Lilley, Bryn Halliwell and Neil Janczyk.

Lilley was signed from Morton in January on a short-term deal but didn’t start a game and failed to score in 14 substitute appearances.

Halliwell was first choice goalkeeper at the start of the season after joining from Dunfermline but was dropped midway through and has been Kevin Cuthbert’s deputy ever since.

Janczyk was out of Coyle’s plans long ago and last season was loaned out to Raith Rovers and Stranraer.

Filipe Morais will be returning to Millwall after his loan spell with Saints.

Captain Kevin James is the first player to have signed a new deal and Coyle will be offering terms to all the other men now out of contract.
