David has no beef with butcher

CARNOUSTIE champion bodybuilder David Broadfoot popped into his butcher’s shop yesterday to thank them for helping him enjoy a successful season.

The 36-year-old from Barry Road said he was indebted to Stewart’s Butchers for keeping him supplied with sirloin steaks and chicken breasts during his rigorous training regime.

David won the under-85kg category at the Prolab Classic in Fife at the end of last month and finished a creditable third in the masters class 3 at the Scottish championships in Edinburgh last weekend.

His last event this year is a Mr Caledonia competition in Airdrie today and then he is having a break.

David said yesterday, “My wife Sandra knew how important my diet was going to be and she approached Stewart Bell at the local butcher shop to see if he could sponsor me.

“He said he would be able to help me out and I’m very grateful to him.”

David said he also wanted to thank Sandra as, although it was his sport, she made sacrifices too.

“We haven’t been able to go out for a meal in ages, for example, but we are going on holiday soon so I’ll make it up then.”
