A DUNDEE police officer appeared in private at the city’s sheriff court yesterday accused of passing on confidential police information about drugs, failing to pass on information to police officers and dealing in cocaine.
William Mark Hosie (27), c/o Tayside Police, made no plea or declaration and was released on bail while the case was continued for further inquiry.
Hosie made a five-minute appearance in front of senior Dundee Sheriff Richard Davidson.
Afterwards, solicitor John Macdonald, who is appearing for the officer, said that the charges alleged that between January 1 and May 5, while Hosie was a police constable in Dundee, at various places he passed on confidential police information and intelligence to another man regarding ongoing police activity.
It’s also alleged that, on May 5, in a police vehicle, while he had in his possession privileged information, he provided the other person with advice with the intention of assisting the other person to evade prosecution, all with intent to pervert the course of justice.
He is further accused in being concerned in the supply of the class A drug cocaine between January 1 and May 5.
He also faces the charge of wilfully neglecting his duty as a police officer by failing to pass on information to fellow police officers.
Hosie is suspended from the force.
