YOUNG DUNDEE rugby players swept aside all before them at a European tournament.

The city’s under-11 primary schools rugby team celebrated after triumphing in the Joan of Arc competition in Orleans, France, going eight matches undefeated and amassing 28 tries in the process.

The players, from primary schools across the city, won the overall title for their age group as well as the trophy for best attacking team.

En route to their success, the team defeated the famous Racing Club of Paris and beat hosts Rugby Club d’Orleans in the final.

A spokesman for Dundee City Council education department said, “This is a fantastic achievement by the Dundee Under-11 Primary Schools Rugby Team.

“This competition attracts some of the best young rugby players in Europe and the Dundee team’s 100% record in the tournament speaks for itself.”
