Woman cyclist badly hurt in Perth

A PERTH cyclist was taken to Ninewells Hospital yesterday after she was involved in an accident with an articulated lorry.

The 47-year-old woman received a serious leg injury in the accident which happened on Glasgow Road at around 8.50am and left her mangled bicycle under a front wheel of the lorry.

She had just negotiated the mini roundabout at Cherrybank, near the junction with Oakbank Place, when the collision happened. The lorry driver was taken to Perth Royal Infirmary for a check-up and treated for shock.

Oakbank Place was closed for accident investigators to examine the scene, and there was traffic disruption for several hours. Witnesses are asked to call the police on 01738 621141.
