A WOMAN was arrested for a drink-driving offence after phoning the police from her car and telling them she wanted a cup of coffee and help getting to the toilet because she was drunk.
Confused Linda Harrison (50) had parked her car in Candlestick Lane in Coupar Angus when she made the call to the police control room in Perth on November 21.
Officers arrived 10 minutes later to find Harrison, of The Green in nearby Burrelton, still inside and smelling heavily of alcohol.
Depute fiscal Vicki Bell explained, “At 8.10pm she phoned the Tayside Police control room to report she was drunk within her vehicle and required police assistance.
“She said she needed the toilet and a cup of coffee.
“She went on to describe the car she was in and where it was.
“At 8.20 police officers arrived and she was sitting in the driver’s seat.
“They spoke to her and detected a smell of alcohol and arrested her.”
Upon being taken to Perth police station, she did not complete the drink drive test, giving only one specimen of breath where two are required and telling officers, “I don’t breathe like that.”
Yesterday she was disqualified from driving for eight months and fined £200 after admitting failing to provide two breath specimens without reasonable excuse.
Her solicitor Kevin Lancaster told the court his client’s life at the time was “fairly chaotic.”
It is believed she was actually living in her Nissan Micra car at the time of the offence.
