GLENROTHES LABOUR MP John MacDougall is continuing to recuperate well after having a lung removed in his fight against asbestosis.
Mr MacDougall (59) underwent the surgery in London four weeks ago after being diagnosed with mesothelioma which is thought to have been caused by his work in the shipyards.
Speaking at his Kirkcaldy home yesterday, the MP said he expected to be back working normally when Parliament sits after the summer recess and made it clear he will once again be seeking the Labour nomination for the Glenrothes seat at the next general election.
He said, “The surgeon is delighted with the way the operation went, he said it was one of the best he’s done, and now I’m recuperating with my family around me.
“This is not something you can rush, it takes time but I’m in high spirits and still doing important bits of parliamentary work.”
