Accused’s trial moved to July

THE TRIAL of a Dundee United fan accused of being drunk in charge of a three-year-old child at a Scottish Cup tie in February was put off until July when the case called at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday.

Niall Joseph Mulligan (42), of Pitcairn Drive, Balmullo, was arrested at Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s Tulloch stadium in February when the club played United.

Mulligan did not appear at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday but his lawyer maintained his not guilty plea on his behalf to two charges arising from the match.

He is accused of being drunk in a public place while in charge of a three-year-old on February 3.

Mulligan is further accused of being drunk in a sports ground at a sports event.

A new intermediate diet was set down for July 3, while the trial will now take place on July 27.
