DUNDEE IS bracing itself for a military invasion of the friendly kind as the annual military show rolls into town this weekend.
On Sunday hundreds of servicemen and women will be on parade in Camperdown Park for Scotland’s biggest and best-attended free military show.
This year the show is bigger and better than ever before, featuring an action-packed arena programme, state-of-the-art static displays and military simulators, plus millions of pounds of military hardware.
The arena programme includes a Royal Marines unarmed combat display and the Golden Lions freefall parachute display team.
The Highland Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland plus the combined pipes and drums of 5 & 7 SCOTS with Angus and Dundee Battalion Army Cadet Force will provide music.
Lieutenant Colonel Colin Campbell, commanding officer, the 7th Bn the Royal Regiment of Scotland—the unit organising the show—said the scene is set for an epic.
“The people of Tayside, Fife and further afield have supported the Dundee Military Show for many years,” he said.
“This year we are set for a great show—there is more equipment, more stands and more events than ever.
“We always get a great turnout in Dundee and I’m sure there will be a big crowd on Sunday.”
The show opens at 11am with static stands and the Radio Tay Roadshow. The arena programme runs from 1-4.30pm and the show closes at 5pm.
