A FORMER public toilet in the centre of St Andrews might fetch over £100,000 when it goes under the hammer an auction in Glasgow later this month.
The building in City Road is attracting a huge amount of interest from prospective buyers attracted by its guide price of £50,000—but it is likely that there will be a bidding war for a slice of real estate.
The toilets, which are now closed, lie close to the bus station and are in a dilapidated condition.
Auctioneer SVA Properties has been instructed by Fife Council in the sale, and the price might shoot up so high that normal rules for such sales—where a delegated decision cannot be made by councillors if the price is over £100,000—might have to be waived to let a deal go through during the council’s holiday period.
It is thought that the property could be used for either commercial or residential purposes, although a massive of amount of renovation work would be required on the listed property.
The sale will take place on June 20.
