A LEVEN man who pulled a hat over his eyes while driving on a main road after realising he was being watched by a police camera kept his licence when he appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
Andrew Lee (28), of Station Road, pleaded guilty to driving carelessly on the A92 between Lochgelly and Cowdenbeath by covering his face with a woollen hat and obscuring his vision with his hands on January 28 of this year.
The court was shown video footage of the incident taken by police.
It clearly showed Lee pulling the hat over his eyes and putting his hand in front of his face as he passed the camera.
Solicitor Xander Flett said his client accepted it had been “a pretty stupid thing to do.”
He said, “There was no question of him losing control of the vehicle. It was a stupid thing he did on the spur of the moment.”
Mr Flett said his client had the hat in question with him in court. He said it was possible to see things like vehicles and people through the fabric.
Sheriff Craig McSherry imposed a fine of £300 and added six penalty points to Lee’s licence.
