PUPILS REPRESENTING the 19 nursery, primary and secondary schools in Perth are taking part in the annual planting of the flower bed at Perth Leisure Pool.

The design this year is a ladybird.

They have been working alongside members of the Perth in Bloom committee.

The colourful ladybird is being planted up in red semperflorens begonias, with black spots made from recycled tyres.

Euna Scott, chairwoman of Perth in Bloom said, “The planting of the flower bed has never lost its popularity with the schoolchildren or indeed the many tourists who visit to admire the displays.

“We try to keep the design simple and easily accomplished by children from a wide age range and of varying abilities.

“The ladybird design will complement the biodiversity theme for the campaign this year and we were reminded by the children that we should ensure it has the correct number of spots!”
