STUDENTS from Scotland’s premier traditional music academy are preparing to visit Dundee as part of their end of year tour this week.
The Frigate Unicorn will welcome the students from the national centre of excellence, which is based at Plockton High School in the west Highlands, onboard for a special show tomorrow.
The concert will feature 21 students from the centre playing in four bands before joining forces for a powerful finale.
Alongside some of the country’s finest talent, Tayside Young Fiddlers were rehearsing hard last night as they prepare for their star turn as opening act for tomorrow’s show.
National centre of excellence director Dougie Pincock, a renowned piper, contacted local traditional musician Sheena Wellington to see if there was a quality youth group his charges could join forces with.
Sheena nominated the secondary school pupils of Tayside Young Fiddlers, who were only too happy to accept the offer.
Kevin Findlay from the group said, “Tayside Young Fiddlers will open the event, and our musicians are looking forward to it immensely.”
Thursday’s concert starts at 7.30pm with tickets priced £6 and £3 for concessions with all proceeds going to both non-profit making organi-sations.
