Fixture plan agreed

DUNDEE UNITED and Dundee could reach a resolution to their fixture clash headache as early as today.

The Tangerines and Dark Blues have two Saturdays next season when both are scheduled to play at home.

United are down to host St Mirren in the SPL on September 15, while Dunfermline are due at Dens on first division duty on the same day.

Kilmarnock are pencilled in for a November 10 visit to Tannadice, while Clyde are meant to be up the road at the same time.

A third clash was avoided when Hamilton agreed to move their match against the Dark Blues from December 22 to November 24, leaving the coast clear for the United v Gretna game.

Dens chief executive Dave MacKinnon was outraged when the SFL and SPL announced their original fixture lists, and called in the help of police and politicians to lobby the leagues.

It is understood, though, that the city clubs are close to agreeing a plan that will be acceptable to both.
