DUNFERMLINE goalkeeping coach Stevie Woods yesterday tipped Greg Paterson to go all the way after the Scotland youth cap penned a new contract keeping him at the club until May, 2010.
Paterson (17) has, on occasions, made the first-team bench during each of the last two seasons.
He has also been capped by Scotland at U16, U17 and U19 level.
Now with Dorus de Vries looking certain to leave the club Paterson is set to vie with Sean Murdoch for the job of understudying Roddy McKenzie next term.
And Woods has no doubts that Paterson is up to that task and much more.
“Greg is very well placed to have a fantastic future in the game,’’ he said. “I have very high hopes for both him and Sean.
“I first came across Greg two years ago when I was goalie coach to the Scotland Victory Shield side and he had a sensational game against England.
“And he has continued to develop from there.
“I know our manager Stephen Kenny is more than happy to have him involved in first-team training any day of the week because he never lets himself down,” he added.
“And he has definitely benefited from working alongside Dorus and Roddy last season.’’
