PERTH ENERGY giant Scottish Hydro-Electric showed they are tuned in to the needs of Highland Perthshire radio fans when it granted staff member Fraser Aird £1000 through the company’s Into Action scheme.

Fraser presents his own show on Heartland FM on alternate Saturday afternoons and was keen to tap into the SHE scheme, which gives cash to charity and community work in which its staff engage.

With the Pitlochry-based station run almost entirely by volunteers, Fraser said, “I am happy SHE supports what I do in my spare time.

“It’s great to be able to contribute financially to Heartland.

“I’ve been involved for nearly two years as a hobby —radio presenting is something I never thought I would do, but it’s great fun.”

Pete Ramsden, Heartland FM’s operations manager added, “We are delighted with the grant that Fraser has been given, which will be put towards a new transmitter.

“Heartland is a great asset for the community and although it’s run very efficiently on limited funds, we survive due to the hard work and dedication of both volunteers like Fraser and the Friends of Heartland FM.”
