Polish triplets celebrate to sound of three degrees

POLISH TRIPLETS who arrived in Dundee a year ago to complete the final year of their social science degrees were among those who graduated at Abertay University’s summer ceremony in the Caird Hall yesterday.

Aneta, Angelika and Izabela Nadrycka (22) come from Zagan, a town in western Poland with around 27,000 inhabitants.

The girls had already studied up to third-year level in their home country. They attended Karkonoskie College, a state Higher Professional School established in 1998 as part of moves towards greater European integration.

Yesterday, they were conferred with BA Honours in social science with sociology, with several members of their family having travelled to Dundee to see them.

Their immediate plans are to stay on in Scotland and work to save up for possible masters degrees next year.

The trio are far from alone in their adopted country, however, with some 200 Polish students enrolled at Abertay, making it one of the largest contingents from that country at any UK university.
