A DRIVER had a lucky escape when the sports car he was driving left a country road north of Dundee and crashed down a rocky incline.

Police were called to the scene of the single-vehicle incident, on the A928 Petterden to Glamis Road at Lumley Den, at around 2.30pm on Saturday.

One witness said that the driver, believed to be a doctor from Dundee, had been fortunate to escape from his rare AC Cobra without serious injury.

Police confirmed that they had attended the scene but no-one was injured in the smash.

Arrangements were made for the stricken sports car to be uplifted.
