Police appeal after accident

GRAMPIAN POLICE have issued an appeal for witnesses following a fatal accident in which the 29-year-old driver of a Porsche was killed near Maryculter.

The accident occurred around 5.15pm on the B979 Stonehaven to Maryculter road on Monday.

A distinctive yellow Porsche Boxter left the road near Maryculter Farm and the driver, from Aberdeen, was pronounced at the scene. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or anyone who may have seen the striking car prior to the collision to get in touch.

“The vehicle involved was a highly distinctive car which people certainly would have noticed,” said roads policing inspector Mike McDonald.

“It had been travelling from the Stonehaven direction before the collision so it is quite possible it may have passed oncoming vehicles, overtaken others or been overtaken by people who might have taken more notice of it than they would a typical family car.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Grampian Police on 0845 600 5700.
