POLICE ARE appealing for information following a curious incident where a two-year-old child became separated from her parents in Broughty Ferry last night.

At around 5.30pm the young girl became detached from her parents in Margaret Crescent, only to be found moments later in the company of an unidentified man. Subsequently, police were seen to be searching the area.

The man is described as in his mid-40s, with a tanned complexion, short dark hair and was wearing a red T-shirt and blue jeans.

Police said last night that at that stage there was nothing to suggest that a criminal act had taken place. However, they are appealing for witnesses to the incident.

An appeal is also being made for the man concerned to contact the police.
