Children among ‘lost items’

THERE WAS a steady stream of people handing in, reporting and collecting lost property during the Championship.

Aileen Carrie from Tayside Police who has been heading the lost property team said that umbrellas, wallets, clothing and children were the most common “items” handed in.

She said, “So far 10 children have come to lost property. Thankfully all have been reunited with their parents.

“We have had wallets, umbrellas, car keys, spectacles and binoculars handed in. We have also had two passports handed in and a backpack full of food—someone’s going to be hungry today.”

By yesterday afternoon 120 items had been collected, but this number will spiral once the clear-up operation begins in earnest on Monday.

“We have also had over 100 reports of lost property. It’s been very busy.

“A lot of people have been successfully reunited with their items. One of the more unusual reports of lost property was from a man whose wife had lost one of the lenses from her glasses.”

Property that went unclaimed has been taken to Carnoustie police station.
