FIFE POLICE will be stopping vehicles in Glenrothes this weekend as they continue to investigate the death of a local man.
Twenty-four-year-old Jack Wilde suffered serious head injuries in an incident as he made his way home in the early hours of Saturday, and died in hospital the following day.
A 16-year-old Glenrothes man has appeared in court charged with Mr Wilde’s murder, but officers are still hunting for several other people who may have been involved.
The incident happened at around 12.30am on South Parks Road, near its junction with Minto Crescent, and officers will be in the area at the same time tomorrow.
The officer leading the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Malcolm, told The Courier, “This weekend police officers will be out in South Parks Road talking to the drivers of vehicles to establish if they were in the area the previous week and asking if they saw anything.”
Officers have been carrying out door to door inquiries in the locality in a bid to find more witnesses and last night the force’s mobile CCTV van was deployed in the South Parks area as part of the inquiry.
An incident room has been set up at Glenrothes police station, and earlier this week, Mr Wilde’s parents Anne and James appealed for anyone who might have seen anything to come forward.
Anyone who can help the police is asked to contact them on 0845 600 5702 or call the Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555 111.
