Eight axed in Dundee as airlines link up

SCOTAIRWAYS yesterday admitted eight staff in Dundee will lose their jobs because of the airline’s new deal with Air France.

The company said previously the new partnership agreement between the carriers would bring greater benefits to passengers flying to and from Dundee on ScotAirways routes.

A spokesman denied any wholesale job losses would result from the deal, but it has now emerged that all of ScotAirways’ administrative staff in Dundee are being made redundant.

The staff, responsible for taking telephone bookings for flights, were informed by letter on Thursday that they were losing their jobs, as phone bookings will now be taken centrally by Air France.

“Eight administrative staff will lose their jobs as there will be some redundancies and rationalisation,” said a ScotAirways spokesman yesterday.

He said that details of any possible further redundancies were not available at this time.
