Terrier and owner sought after attack

POLICE ARE are still seeking a terrier which savaged another dog in a Perth street.

The traumatised pet’s owner was left facing massive vet bills after a chunk was taken from its neck, narrowly missing blood vessels and certain death.

Naomi Lees was walking her Jack Russell, Jen, in Hillyland with her 13-year-old son when the horrifying incident took place.

Another dog—thought to be a Staffordshire bull terrier—raced across the street and sank its teeth into the helpless tiny animal.

Naomi said, “Before we knew it, the dog had ripped a huge hole in her neck and was biting at her back end.

“Blood was pouring from Jen’s neck and bottom and she was taken straight to the vet.

“She was kept in overnight and given a huge number of stitches in the morning.”

Despite the brutality of the attack, Naomi said the dog’s owner has not taken preventative measures and fears the next victim could face an even worse fate.

She said, “The woman who was with it shouted to me, ‘Please don’t let your dog near mine’.

“It seemed from what she shouted as if the dog may have done something similar before.

“I would like to give a warning to other dog owners that an irresponsible person is going about with an unmuzzled, clearly dangerous dog.”

She said the owner just walked off after the attack.

Naomi was left with a £160 initial vet bill but the true cost of the attack is yet to be determined.

She said, “Now we are worried about just taking Jen out for walks in Perth when she’s better.

“My son has suffered as a result but if I hadn’t been there it would have been even more distressing for him.”

The incident happened at 8.20pm on August 1 on the corner of Alison Crescent and Matheson Drive.

It is thought the dark brown Staffordshire was a female and was wearing a green collar.

The owner was in her early 20s with brown shoulder-length hair and was wearing a orange vertical-striped vest top over a white t-shirt, a short denim skirt and flip-flops. She was carrying a supermarket shopping bag.
