A PAINTING by Sir David Young Cameron, an artist with strong Perth connections, is to be auctioned in the city next month.
The oil of Stirling Castle has a pre-sale estimate of £6000 to £8000 and is expected to arouse considerable interest when it is sold at Lindsay Burns Auctioneers in King Street.
“Cameron is one of Scotland’s great landscape painters,” said auctioneer Nick Burns.
“A strong composition, the picture is in its exhibition frame and is in untouched condition.” It was exhibited in 1914.
Cameron, who lived from 1865 to 1945, was very well known for his etchings including famous studies of Perth bridge and other street scenes.
