A 24-YEAR-OLD man was killed in an accident in Arbroath on Saturday night.

Mr Karl Robson, St Vigeans, was walking across the A92 Dundee road in Arbroath, near the Waterfront nightclub, when he was involved in an accident with two cars about midnight.

The police and ambulance service were both summoned, but Mr Robson was pronounced dead at the scene.

An ambulance spokesperson said they were alerted at 14 minutes past midnight, and a crew arrived two minutes later.

“The police were already in attendance and were trying to assist the lad, but it was pretty much a lost cause,” said the spokes- person. “There was nothing that could be done.”

It is understood that a taxi driver also tried to help at the scene.

The road was closed for a time to allow a police crash investigation team to make their inquiries.

The vehicles involved were a black BMW X3 and a grey Renault Espace.

Mr Robson is survived by parents Margaret and David, and younger sister Kristy. He also leaves a girlfriend, Paula.
