Musicians tune up for festival

YOUNG MUSICIANS are tuning up to represent Fife this week as the Festival of British Youth Orchestras comes to Scotland.

Nearly 200 talented youngsters will take part in the event which takes place in Glasgow and Edinburgh, where it has been linked in to become part of the Festival Fringe.

Two groups—the Fife Youth Concert Band and the Kingdom Fiddlers—will perform in Edinburgh at Central Hall today and in Glasgow at the Royal Academy of Music and Drama tomorrow, performing at lunchtime on both dates.

Fife Youth String Orchestra and Fife Youth Percussion Ensemble will perform on Thursday, August 30, in Edinburgh and on Friday, September 1, in Glasgow, again at lunchtime.

The Fife Youth Orchestra will perform in the evening in both cities, joined by Christine Smith who will be playing Gliere’s Horn Concerto. They will also perform three songs in The Orchestra Sings.
