AN ANGUS amateur football club has lined up a talented team to help celebrate a major milestone.

Newtyle Hearts will toast their centenary with a sportsman’s dinner at the Belmont Arms Hotel, Meigle, on November 3. Paul Reid, of Only an Excuse fame, and after-dinner speaker Tom Dimmock will entertain guests during the evening, hosted by ex-Dundee United goalkeeper Hamish McAlpine.

A charity auction and draw will see proceeds shared between the club and Newtyle Wheelchair Fund, which provides electric mobility aids for elderly and infirm villagers.

The organisers hope to assemble a pictorial history of the club and will welcome any memorabilia ex-players and associates could lend.
