Theatre to perform Timex strike play

THE TIMEX dispute of the early 1990s is the subject of a short play at showing at Dundee Rep next week.

Dundee Rep theatre creative learning group will present Creative Voices, in which members direct and perform three short plays plus an extract from On The Line, a production about Timex first performed in 1996.

The Rep’s cast of 49 have worked on this project for five months, taking charge of all aspects of the productions.

They have also work-ed on costume design with Dundee Rep’s wardrobe department, and music with composer Ivan Stott.

From three short plays to a large cast— including Dundee Rep Women’s singing group in On The Line— the event will feature some of the best of local talent.

Dundee Rep’s creative team works with all sections of the community, creating high quality and innovative projects.

Associate director Sarah Brigham said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for members of the community to learn about all aspects of putting on a show.

“Over the last five months the community directors have learnt the joys and challenges of working behind the scenes from making lighting decisions to sorting a rehearsal schedule to taking an actor through their paces.

“The pieces really represent the wealth of local talent in Dundee.”

Tickets for the event, at 7.45pm on August 31, are now on sale from Dundee Rep box office
