ST JOHNSTONE footballer Kevin Rutkiewicz will be swapping a football for a guitar on October 7 when he makes a musical debut at Perth Concert Hall.
The central defender is one of several acts taking part in the Oxfam event, Oxjam, and said it will be a much more daunting experience than when he took his football bow as a teenager with Aberdeen at Easter Road.
Explaining how his first gig came about, Rutkiewicz said, “I was keeping myself busy with the guitar when I was out injured and was approached by one of the organisers of the Oxfam concert to see if I wanted to take part.
“I’ll do a few covers on the acoustic guitar. I’ve played in pubs at open acoustic nights but never a gig.
“It will be nerve-wracking but it’s for a good cause and if all else fails I’ll tell a couple of jokes! I started teaching myself the guitar when I was at Aberdeen and it gives me something to do outside football, which you need.
“The Saints lads can come to watch as long as they pay for their ticket, because it’s a good cause.”
