A POLICE officer who sustained multiple injuries when the van he was driving was involved in an accident in Arbroath last Monday remained in a “critical but stable” condition in Ninewells Hospital yesterday.
The long-serving Arbroath-based officer, who has not been named at the request of his family, was left with serious head and facial injuries and a collapsed lung following the accident in the town’s Guthrie Port in the early hours of the morning as he and a colleague responded to an emergency call.
Inquiries into the accident, which saw the Ford Transit Connect mini-van the officer was driving overturn and collide with a Citroen delivery van, have been continuing.
A second police officer, who was in the passenger seat and sustained less serious injuries, is understood to be recovering well.
