Woman dies in Arbroath incident

A WOMAN has died following a late-night disturbance in an Angus house.

The 58-year-old was pronounced dead on arrival at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee after she had been rushed there by ambulance following the incident in Arbroath’s Glenisla Drive, shortly before 10.30pm.

In the early hours of this morning, police issued a statement confirming the death.

“About 10.25pm on Sunday Tayside Police received a report of a disturbance in a house in Glenisla Drive,” said a spokesman.

“Police attended, along with the Scottish Ambulance Service, and a 58-year-old woman was traced within the premises with serious injuries.

“She was conveyed by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

“Tayside Police are continuing inquiries in the area and a forensic examination is being carried out.”

It is understood that police are following a positive line of inquiry in relation to the incident.

The house lies very close to Arbroath Academy, and last night the part of Glenisla Drive leading to the school was cordoned off as scenes of crime officers carried out their investigation of the house.

It is not known if the incident will have an impact on the school opening today.
