Good work all down to Jamie

A PERTH youngster’s abseiling challenge has helped to raise £1000 for the Caring for Kids charity.

Jamie Melville (14), who attends Glebe School, took on the Crags of Dunkeld earlier this month.

Despite never having abseiled before, Jamie was quick to agree to take part after it was mentioned by a family friend.

He spent days knocking on doors in Perth seeking support for his challenge, while family and friends also helped out.

Jamie decided to give his backing to Caring for Kids.

Proud dad Jim said, “My friend Jock organises charity abseils and he said to Jamie, ‘Do you fancy jumping off a cliff? Don’t worry—we’ll tie a rope around you!’

“It was all a bit hairy scary for him, but he did everything with a smile, as he always does.

“Once over the edge he put his heart and soul into it and achieved his aim.

“I’m fair chuffed with him.”

Jamie yesterday handed the proceeds to the charity at Moncrieffe Stores, the family shop in Glengarry Road.
