A 21-YEAR-OLD woman and a young child escaped with minor injuries when a lorry and a car collided at a major junction in Dundee at yesterday.
At around 6pm the lorry was in collision with the woman’s Ford Focus, which crashed through a metal barrier and on to a traffic island at the junction of Claypotts Road and Arbroath Road.
The car was severely damaged and the woman and the child were trapped in it for some time, but they were freed before the emergency services arrived.
The car’s airbags were deployed. Police and an ambulance attended.
Paramedics checked the 40-year-old lorry driver, the woman and the child—who is believed to be no more than a year old—at the scene.
All avoided any injuries.
A member of the emergency services in attendance said those involved were “lucky to have escaped unscathed.”
