POLICE IN Fife are hunting a man who tried to entice a 15-year-old schoolgirl into his car yesterday.

The man, said to be of Asian appearance, stopped to talk to the teenager as she walked along the A916 Cupar-to-Leven road, near its junction with Sandylands Road in Cupar.

Police say he tried engage her in conversation in an effort to get her into the car—thought to be a dark Vauxhall Astra—under “false pretences”.

Because of what was said to her, the girl became suspicious and walked away, and the man drove off towards Leven.

The driver is described as being mid to late-30s, medium build and with dark hair, described as being short at the sides and longer on top. He also had a moustache and stubble.

Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them on 0845 600 5702 or at their local police station.
