A FIFE boy has raced to victory at the British Youth Motocross championships near Bristol.
Matthew Flemming, of Leven, took the chequered flag in the Mo85cc Small Wheel category on his Honda bike to become British champion for his 13-year age group.
The win was the culmination of seven hard rounds for the Kirkland High School pupil, which have seen him compete in Scotland, Ireland and England.
Having more than 500 victories under his belt, the youngster has been racing bikes since the age of six, with proud father John Flemming supporting him.
He said, “Matt has always wanted to race bikes and wants to turn professional after school.
“His boxing training helps him because he has a lot of strength for his age, which you need in moto-cross.
“He has had a couple of crashes in his time but nothing too serious. After one race the officials stripped the motor to check we weren’t cheating because he finished 21 seconds ahead.
“When he gets presented with his trophy it will be at a big ceremony along with all the seniors and superbike riders.”
