POLICE HAVE appealed for information after a car was destroyed and a double garage badly damaged by a “suspicious” fire it is believed was started deliberately early yesterday.

The Volkswagen Polo was completely burnt out by the fire, which police say appeared to be malicious, at the house at 420 Blackness Road, shortly after midnight on Saturday.

The flames had spread to the roof timbers and the wooden doors.

Firefighters arrived at around 12.30am to find the lock-up garage well alight after over a dozen calls.

A police spokesman said, “The car was completely destroyed and we are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time or who has any information to get in touch by calling Dundee 223200, or speak to any officer.”
