THE UNIVERSITY of Abertay Dundee yesterday welcomed Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth John Swinney MSP.
Mr Swinney visited the university to find out more about its White Space and Add Knowledge projects.
The university has invested more than £1 million in developing White Space as an example of how it wishes to re-engineer itself in the future.
The development includes project-based teaching facilities, research facilities, a recording studio and virtual reality lab, a design studio and incubator premises for small businesses, many of them set up by graduate students.
Add Knowledge is developing state-of-the-art video games that support the teaching of key components of the Scottish primary school curriculum.
The company is developing a two-year pilot project and eventually aims to deliver these games and a free games console to every child in Scotland.
Mr Swinney was joined by Scotland’s most senior civil servant, Sir John Elvidge, who joined in discussions with Professor Bernard King, principal and vice-chancellor of Abertay.
