Kilted man sought over sex attack

A KILTED man is being sought by detectives after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted in the centre of Dundee.

The 16-year-old girl had been out with a friend of the same age, in the west end area and the two were in Perth Road shortly after 2am on Saturday.

They then became aware of a man and a woman approaching them.

The man was aged in his 30s and was wearing a green kilt, dark shirt, white calf- length socks and dark ankle boots.

He is further described as being of a muscular or athletic build and 6ft 1in, with short dark brown hair, dark brown eyes and a prominent jaw.

They spoke to the girls for a while and were then joined by another two males.

Conversations continued by a bus stop on the street in front of Dundee University’s Tower Building in Nethergate. The female who had been with the kilted man walked away.

As the group continued to talk, the 16-year-old, who at this time was slightly apart from the group, was joined by the kilted man. They then went into the grounds of the university and the man sexually assaulted her.

After the incident took place the victim and her friend both walked away, leaving the kilted man and the two other males behind.

Police are carrying out inquiries into the area and are studying CCTV footage, and would appeal for anyone with information to come forward, in an effort to trace the kilted man.

They would particularly like to speak to the woman who was with him when he met the two teenage girls.

She is described as having a dark or tanned complexion and possibly being of Oriental appearance. She is very thin and 5ft 5in tall.

At the time she wore light clothing and possibly a white coat.

Detectives would also like to speak to the other two men who had joined the group talking outside the university building as they could have information crucial to the inquiry.

The girls—the victim of the attack and her companion—both had fair shoulder-length hair.

Anyone with information that might assist inquiries should contact police immediately on Dundee 223200, or speak to any officer. Alternatively they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
