Fun in store for Pudsey & Co.

Pudsey grabs the attention at Asda Kirkcaldy.

PUDSEY BEAR was at Kirkcaldy’s Asda store yesterday to help staff with their fund-raising efforts.

Employees wore Pudsey ears, while customers were able to take part in a guess the bear’s birthday competition and enter tombola draws.

PC Anna Friel was also on hand to highlight children’s safety and hand out information leaflets.

Store manager Allan Gibson said, “We’re really going to get behind BBC Children in Need and with our customers’ support we aim to make this year’s appeal a huge success.”

For most pupils across Fife, yesterday meant a relaxing start to a long weekend as they enjoyed a day’s holiday.

However, nearly 100 youngsters from Queen Anne High School in Dunfermline gave up their in-service day holiday to raise money for the BBC appeal.

A charity walk across the Forth road bridge was organised by the school’s senior prefects and involved pupils from S6 and S1.

They were hoping to raise £800.

Rector James Bellshaw said, “I was pleased when they asked me about this idea.

“Queen Anne pupils are aware of the advantages they enjoy and support a range of charities in Scotland and beyond.

“Our links with a Gambian school are well established.”
