Fights for life after gritter collision

A 20-YEAR-OLD Dundee woman was last night fighting for her life after suffering head injuries when her car collided with a gritter lorry in Angus on Saturday.

The woman, who has not been named, was driving towards Newbigging on the Dundee to Drumsturdy road when her red Fiat Punto struck the oncoming gritter close to the Hillock Farm at around 7.40am.

The car left the road following the impact, and Tayside Fire and Rescue had to cut the woman free.

After being assessed by ambulance crew she was taken to Ninewells Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition. The driver of the lorry was uninjured.

The road remained closed until just after 12.30pm.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the accident to call 01307 302200.
