Family and friends grieve for teenager

The funeral takes place in Arbroath tomorrow of a local teenager who died following a tragic accident.

Michael Cadman (17) never recovered after he collapsed while visiting friends last week.

The popular teenager was rushed to Ninewells’ intensive care unit, but it is understood doctors took the decision to turn off his life support machine on Saturday as there was no chance he would regain consciousness due to a brain injury.

His devastated family and friends had hoped he would pull through and are now struggling to come to terms with his death.

The keen guitarist had planned to move to Perth where he was studying music production at college.

A family friend said yesterday, “It is such a loss to the family. I can’t believe this has happened.”

His friends are clubbing together to buy a wreath in the shape of a left-handed guitar as a fitting tribute for his funeral.

Other tributes have flooded in from family and friends on his Bebo page.

His cousin, Robbie Cargill, left the message, “Will never forget some of the times we had as kids. Summer holidays were the best... staying up late watching films, then sleeping most the day.

“And the days at the Cafe Project! Sometimes we were the only ones there...”

The talented musician had enjoyed a fairly recent trip to Japan with friends. His family are too devastated to speak about their loss.

Michael is survived by his parents Ian and Jessie, and his sister Jennifer.

His funeral will be held at St Mary’s Episcopal Church at 1pm tomorrow.
