A MAN was in police custody late last night after an incident at a flat in a Kirkcaldy street which lasted several hours.

Specialist officers dealt with the situation which began in Strathkinness Road around about 3.10pm and ended at about 11.40pm.

The lower part of the street was cordoned off and residents were evacuated from the adjoining three properties.

In the early hours of this morning a spokesman for Fife Constabulary said the evacuated residents would be allowed to return to their homes “in due course.”
