ANGUS RESIDENTS are being urged to pay their council tax by direct debit under a new campaign launched yesterday.

Corporate services convener Mark Salmond pulled the wraps off the promotion at Angus House, the local authority’s HQ at Forfar.

“Direct Debit is the easiest and most cost efficient way to pay your council tax,” he said.

“There’s no more queuing to pay, no more writing cheques every month and no more reminder letters.”

He said council tax payers have a choice of two payment dates—the 1st or 16th of each month—and the direct debit will carry forward automatically to the next year’s bill.

Those wishing to pay this way in the year ahead must fill in a direct debit form and return it by February 1.

Forms are available from Invertay House, Monifieth; Old Parish Church, Kirk Square, Arbroath; 36 Bank Street, Brechin; 26 High Street, Carnoustie; Municipal Buildings, Forfar; 5 Bank Street, Kirriemuir; Town House, Montrose and 81 High Street, Monifieth.
