Charities gain while slimmers lose

A GROUP of slimming class members are taking part in a “big” clothes amnesty by literally donating the clothes off their backs to charity.

Over the next seven weeks, members of the Weight Watchers classes in St Andrews and Leuchars are celebrating their slimming successes by gifting clothes that no longer fit them to various charities.

Weight Watchers leader Jeannie Allan, who heads both classes, said at the weekend, “It’s a win-win situation. Money will be raised for charity and it also feels liberating for members.

“When you are trying to lose weight, dropping a dress size is a brilliant achievement. This feel-good feeling is topped up by knowing the clothes will not be simply thrown away.”
