Hackers target DFC website

DUNDEE FC were targeted by a team of hackers on Saturday—although not on the football pitch.

The club’s official website—www.thedees.co.uk—was attacked by a team of malicious hackers sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning.

The internet saboteurs only disrupted the official team website, however, not the online club shop.

This means that the personal details of Dees fans who may have used credit or debit cards to buy goods online have not been stolen.

Users who logged on to the website on Saturday morning found that banners boasting it had been hacked by “The Scottish Hacking Team” dominated the website.

Luckily, the team behind the website were soon able to restore the site to its former glory.

Dundee’s website is maintained by Broughty Ferry company Cool Image Internet and Barry Koervers, the firm’s managing director, said the site had been the subject of internet vandalism but that no lasting harm was done.

“The site was back to normal within an hour,” he said last night.

Mr Koervers added that the Dundee FC official website and the online shop were run by two different companies, so customers had no reason to be concerned.

“The shop is a completely different website and it is hosted on a different server,” he said.

“There is no personal information on the Dundee FC website.”
